Do the very brief quest and give him 5 gold (I think) and viola.you can now choose a new totem god.

Talk to the main trainer and he will have a side quest. If I go back to Vanguard, I'll definetelly be playing one again.Īlso to the guy who wants to change Totems, go to your class trainer in your main city/town. The only reason I stopped playing was work got the best of me and pulled me away for a few months. I played a Bear Shaman up to 40'ish and a Pheonix up to 30'ish and they are a lot of fun. You can change into those forms as well as summon a pet looking just like you do in that form. In Vanguard you get to choose between 1 of 3 totem gods, Pheonix, Wolf and Bear. The only limit to what you could do was your imagination and skill level, no other class in any other game has gotten that right. They were a hell of a lot of fun to play and if you knew what you were doing could do a ton in groups instead of just Turgurs/Haste like most groups want. In Everquest I mained a Shaman from 2000 to 2005 and am always looking for a character that can bring that flavor back. Everquest 2 just couldn't get it right and always felt a bit wonky to me. the other's being HP and AC (ac a bit less useful).įor a shaman you should always put your starting points into wisdom, simply because you won't be walking around 100 points below the stam cap with shammy stat buffs (and stamina's > HP return is far less than plain ol' +HP items).A Vanguard Shaman is much more like an Original EQ Shaman than an EQ2 Shaman. what are the only two stats you can't increase via buffs and thus max out with semi-attainable gear? Wis/Int. The best way to do that is to dump all your starting points into stamina so you can then focus on getting as much +HP gear as you can with some wis thrown in. This kind of thing falls under the single element per spec category for me. There are so many options for pet classes frost mages, all locks, and two hunter specs for ranged pet classes, and surv hunters, and unholy DKs fill the melee pet specs. what i mean by that is to avoid the low AC (no ac) items and those with no +HP. I gotta disagree with permanent shaman pets. The point is to get to 170-180 without "trying" as hard. Though that may seem at odds with what i said earlier, in practicality it makes sense. I picked a barb, but only b/c i hate looking at trolls and ogres and i played an iksar during live.Īctualy my highest char is a mage level 20 so i cant really give myself anything lol.Īt the creation ive put 25 point into wis and 5 into sta. In fact, shammy mana regen surpasses necros in a raid setting at lvl 60, and that's directly determined by your HP. Towards the end of kunark you will have more mana than you know what to do with if you're not lazy about hitting your keys (cannibalize>torpor). you'll have more than enough mana to cast the spells you'll need to cast in any situation, whether solo or group/raid. They have an AC bonus for when you throw a slow too early, and great regen, like trolls, that stacks with spells/worn effects.ītw, don't stack wis. in terms of groups iksar are probably the best race to pick. Iksars can't wear JBB, though this may seem like a minor hindrance, it's actually quite severe when soloing at endgame (if that's your shindig). Shaman mana is directly determined by their health points, thus if you have more HP you have more mana.

lowest wis doesn't matter, as this i've discussed and has been discussed before. Funnily enough, half the pet specs that can get rid of their pets do so for the better part of the xpac (frost mages and mm hunters) and the go-for pet for warlocks doesnt require any kind of management. they wear plate (think JBB, class defining) and have great stam. If you want a permanent elemental pet, play frost mage. Ogre is great! particularly for the solo shaman i'd say it's the class to pick over troll/barb. Again, they are evil, so you should consider this when deciding what race to play. They have higher wisdom than trolls, but are significantly lacking in agility and dexterity. Troll regen is great in that it stacks with spells (chloro) and worn regen (rubi/fungi). Ogres have the most base stat points of the 3 shaman races, with Strength and Stamina making the real difference.

It's uses are limited and you'll realize that as soon as you get one. Don't go troll for an overrated necklace.
